Where to Stay in Aspen
Little Nell
The Little Nell is a luxurious five star hotel located at the base of Ajax Mountain right next to the gondola which makes it one of the best ski in ski out hotels in Aspen. The hotel offers great restaurants in-house ranging from fine dining at Montagna to relaxed pub fare at Ajax Tavern. Ajax Tavern is also one of the best apres spots in Aspen because you can bask in the sun with a beer on their large patio as you watch skiers fly down the mountain.
The Little Nell has an outdoor heated pool and hot tub as well as a small fitness center. While the hotel doesn't have a traditional spa, they offer massages either in your room or in a massage room located in the fitness center. Particularly known for their exceptional customer service, the ski concierge will spoil you by picking up rental ski gear for you, storing it for you at the end of the day and even helping you put on your boots when you're ready to hit the mountain. The concierge will go out of their way to help you with any of your needs during your stay, be it dinner reservations, baby sitters etc. The staff can make it happen.
Hotel Jerome
The Hotel Jerome is one of the oldest hotels in aspen and it is located on the corner of Main Street and Mill Street. This hotel has great customer service, fun bars and restaurants and is known for having a lot of history. In the summer, the hotel has a beautiful patio where it serves food and drinks. The Hotel Jerome also features an outdoor pool and hot tub. The J-Bar and Library are great spots to hang out within the hotel for a bite to eat, beverage or just the social scene - the library sometimes features a lively magician. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated in a luxurious, historic fashion.
St. Regis
Another luxurious lodging option is the St. Regis. Located between the Ajax Mountain gondola and lift 1A, guests at the St. Regis only have to walk a couple of blocks in order to access the ski slopes. The hotel has the best spa in town; Remede, featuring an indoor hot tub "cave" complete with waterfalls. There are also several outdoor hot tubs and a pool. Olives is a high end restaurant located within the hotel and there is a cozy bar also serving food just as you enter the hotel. The rooms are large and decorated in a tasteful mountain lodge fashion with oriental rugs, lots of wood and top of the line furniture.
The Sky Hotel
This hotel is located 1 block from the base of Aspen Mountain. This is one of the only pet friendly hotels in Aspen. Cats and Dogs are allowed here and the Sky Hotel even offers a room package that includes a dog bed and dog dishes.
The sun deck and outdoor hot tubs are facing Aspen Mountain so you can enjoy the view after a day of skiing. This Aspen hotel also features a fitness center, business center with workstation, onsite ski rentals, ski storage and even boot dryers.
The Gant
These condominiums are located about a 5 minute walk from the base of the Silver Queen Gondola in Aspen. The Gant condos are located near Ute ave. which runs along the base of Ajax and toward the Aspen Club and Spa. The most convenient aspect of booking your lodging at the Gant is that you can usually ski almost right to the property. There is an unmaintained ski trail that emerges on Ute avenue right across the street from these Condos.
Mountain Chalet
The Mountain Chalet is an older (unremodeled) hotel located a few blocks from Aspen's gondola and lift 1A. This makes it one of the most conveniently located and affordable hotels in Aspen. While the rooms are dated, they are comfortable. The Mountain Chalet has a great breakfast which is included with the price of you room. There is also an outdoor swimming pool and an indoor hot tub.
Hyatt Grand Aspen
The Hyatt is located one block from the gondola, right next to the winter ice rink. The hotel offers spacious, luxurious residences, suites, as well as rooms. It is immaculately decorated with leather chairs, fire places and amazing views of Ajax Mountain. The Hyatt Grand Aspen's staff is very friendly and offers excellent service. Located only one block from the gondola, this hotel is basically ski in ski out and one of the most luxurious places to stay in Aspen.
Limelight Lodge
Recently remodeled; the Limelight Lodge offers new, large rooms within a block from the town of Aspen. The lodge is known for having a great breakfast, happy hour snacks and a comfy lobby complete with a fireplace that never seems to go out. There are outdoor hot tubs, a pool and a small fitness center. Located next to Wagner Park, you can easily walk to the slopes from this hotel.
Aspen Meadows Resort
Located just outside Aspen, this resort has gorgeous grounds along a stream with golf carts to shuttle you between the lodge and rooms. The resort is home to the Aspen Institute and has a multitude of tennis courts open in the Summer. There is a trail along the stream for romantic, scenic walks or guests can stroll to town. There is also shuttle service to transport guests into Aspen that runs every half hour and an airport shuttle.
Hotel Aspen
Although a this hotel is a little shabby looking from the outside, the Hotel Aspen offers comfy, moderately priced rooms making it one of the top hotel deals in Aspen. The hotel has a hot tub and pool and offers happy hour specials for guests. There are bus stops very close to Hotel Aspen which makes getting to the ski mountains or airport easy. Its only a short walk into the heart of downtown Aspen from this hotel.
