Arapahoe Basin
This ski resort has earned a great reputation among seasoned skiers. There is some easy terrain here, but around the outskirts of the mountain there is some steeper terrain. If you want to do a little bit of hiking, you can gain access to the terrain on the East Wall which is considered fairly extreme terrain.
You can also ski the Pallavicini face which is right above the base of the mountain. This trail has some great steep skiing and this is one of the reasons that the locals like this mountain so much.
Aspen Mountain
This mountain is listed here for a few reasons. Most of all; lack of beginner terrain. It's not that there is tons of extreme terrain at Aspen, but there is lots of steep groomers and just about nothing for beginner skiers. Aspen is also listed on this page because of its association and proximity to Aspen highlands. Here you can find some great expert skiing and when the Highland Bowl is open, there is some tough terrain accessible at the top of the mountain.
Telluride
Telluride is located in the southwest corner of Colorado in the San Juan mountains. There is plenty of great expert skiing in-bounds at Telluride, but if you want to ski the best stuff you might have to hike a little bit or duck under the ropes. Telluride has a great reputation among extreme skiers.
