There is plenty to do away from the mountain in this ski town. Take a sleigh ride or head out to the bars for some apres ski. Just be aware that the mountain opens 1/2 hour earlier than most Colorado resorts and it also closes 1/2 hour earlier.
Steamboat Ski Terrain
There is very little beginner ski terrain at Steamboat. Aside from a small beginner area at the base of the mountain; the majority of the terrain at steamboat is for intermediate and advanced skiers. Check out some of the world class moguls at this ski resort or head to the top of the mountain and check out Morningside Park and the Christmas Tree Bowl.
