Traveling to Steamboat Springs
Steamboat Springs is located in northern Colorado in the Routt National Forest. The Steamboat ski resort is located just a few miles south of Steamboat Springs and there is plenty of local shuttle options to get skiers and riders to the mountain from town.
Most driving routes to the Steamboat Ski Resort will go through Silverthorne, Colorado. This is the exit from I-70 that will take you to Steamboat Springs from southern Colorado. From Silverthorne just head north on rt. 9 and then switch to rt. 40 north until you hit the town of Steamboat Springs. It's about a 2 hour drive from Silverthorne to Steamboat.
Flying into Steamboat Springs
Private planes and small charters are able to land at the Steamboat Springs Airport which is located just to the northwest of Steamboat Springs. All local commercial flights fly into the Yampa Valley Regional Airport. This airport is located about 25 miles to the west of Steamboat Springs and is about a 40 minute drive from the ski resort. The majority of skiers and riders who are traveling to Steamboat Springs to ski will fly into this airport. Some people still opt to fly into the Denver Airport and drive to Steamboat.
Steamboat Springs is about a 150 mile drive from Denver that takes approximately 3 1/2 hours.
